Dumerso Coffee
Dumerso is a boutique specialty roastery and café that has become a destination for Addis Ababa's growing community of coffee connoisseurs. Named after a prized micro-lot growing area in the Guji zone, Dumerso is built around the idea that great coffee begins in the field — and that the people who drink it deserve to know exactly how it got to the cup.
The Coffee
Dumerso works on a direct-trade model, sourcing small batches from a handful of farms in Guji, Yirgacheffe, and Bench Sheko. Each lot is roasted separately and kept distinct throughout its lifecycle. The espresso bar and pour-over station allow customers to taste the same origin in different brew formats — a revelatory side-by-side for coffee students.
What to Order
- Guji natural pour-over — Dumerso's signature; rich, wine-like, deeply complex
- Traditional buna set — a curated ceremony presentation using seasonal single-origin beans, served with frankincense
- Flat white — a restrained, milk-forward option that lets the coffee's sweetness shine through
The Space
A carefully designed modern café with a cupping lab visible through a glass partition. The aesthetic is minimal — whitewashed walls, reclaimed wood, carefully selected ceramics — letting the coffee take centre stage.
Visitor Tips
- Dumerso releases limited micro-lot bags seasonally; ask staff what's available to buy.
- The traditional buna set requires 30–40 minutes — plan accordingly.
- Sarbet is a quieter neighbourhood; the café is a peaceful escape from Bole Road's bustle.
