Addis House of Culture invites you to a rare viewing of archival films of Ethiopian Royalty with historian and filmmaker Hugues Fontaine. View extraordinary moving images from 1909 capturing the last public appearance of Menelik II, King of Kings, and from 1917 documenting the coronation of Queen Zewditu. These are among the earliest surviving films of Ethiopia. Special Screening of The Modernist by Rasselas Lakew
Addis House of Culture, in collaboration with Tinsae Tsegahun, hosts a special screening of Rasselas Lakew's film The Modernist (2022). The film explores how Emperor Haile Selassie and Henri Chomette's vision built Ethiopia's modern architecture. Rasselas Lakew is a Spain-based filmmaker.
